Significant Achievements
The work involved reinforced earth walls at the bridge abutments. These walls were 5 metres high by approximately 80 metres in length each with extensive strapping and select fill extending 8 metres behind the wall.
Maintaining traffic continuity was an essential aspect of the work.
Full compliance with Coal and Allied’s Health, Safety and Environmental systems.
Excavation of piles and construction of piles cast in-situ to ground level. Extension of piles a further 5 metres above ground using scaffold falsework and formatube.
Community liaison extremely sensitive due to the bridge being connected with the mine sites of Warkworth and Mount Thorley.
Construction of the bridge substructure including abutment construction, installation of 20 T-beams each weighing 38 tonnes, deck construction involving reinforcement up to 38 mm in diameter, approach slab construction, slip forming of 140 metres of approach barriers 2.2 metres in height and final installation of seals, cover plates and safety screens.
Construction of stormwater drainage, pavements, sealing guardrail to complete works.
