Significant Achievements
- Daracon’s role in this $500M project was to build the 1.5km berm and associated facilities that would support the Coal Reclaimer and coal stockpile. This included concrete structures for:
- Coal Transfer Station
- Conveyor systems
- Cost reimbursable contract with bonuses for early completion and sharing of all cost savings. Client, Project Manager and Contractor equally sharing the risks and opportunities.
- Kooragang Island is an environmentally sensitive site and substantial pre-work activities involved the relocation of fauna (snakes, frogs and birds) that was threatened by the proposed work
- Select material was sourced from a number of suppliers then processed through two of Daracon’s pugmills to ensure consistency
- PWCS and Bechtel made safety of personnel their highest priority, believing that safe sites are the most productive. Daracon was chosen in part because of its similar commitment and performance
