Scope of Work
Construct tailings dam at Mt Thorley mine. Spread, trim and compact overburden delivered by mine during each night shift. Raise dam wall in 1 metre lifts each day.
Significant Achievements
- The work involved the placement, trimming and compaction of over 1,200,000 cubic metres of overburden material.
- Coordination between mine and Daracon personnel was imperative to the smooth flow of the work.
- Up to 30,000 cu m of overburden was delivered during each night shift by mine personnel, which was spread and finished in 900mm layers by Daracon.
- Safety was of paramount importance and Daracon implemented a comprehensive system that was accepted by CNA and other clients.
