Cowpasture Road Reconstruction

Cowpasture Road is a major arterial road that carries over 50,000 vehicles per day.
The project required the construction of two additional lanes that were used while the existing carriageway was rebuilt.
Traffic management was a critical aspect of the project. All work was done under traffic with minimal disruption to traffic flow and no incidents.
Many traffic changes were necessary to accommodate the numerous construction stages and these were often done overnight when traffic volumes were least.
The site adjoins the Western Sydney Regional Park, an Olympic Equestrian venue, which is a sensitive environmental site. Special work processes were put in place to ensure that environmental aspects were carefully controlled.
Consultation with the community was a continuous process throughout the project and covered a range of issues including traffic changes, vibration monitoring and building condition assessments.
Major sewer and water infrastructure required relocation and this was carried out by Daracon personnel who are accredited by both Sydney and Hunter Water Corporations.
