Significant Achievements
- Cowpasture Road is a major arterial road that carries over 50,000 vehicles per day.
- The project required the construction of two additional lanes that were used while the existing carriageway was rebuilt.
- Traffic management was a critical aspect of the project. All work was done under traffic with minimal disruption to traffic flow and no incidents.
- Many traffic changes were necessary to accommodate the numerous construction stages and these were often done overnight when traffic volumes were least.
- The site adjoins the Western Sydney Regional Park, an Olympic Equestrian venue, which is a sensitive environmental site. Special work processes were put in place to ensure that environmental aspects were carefully controlled.
- Consultation with the community was a continuous process throughout the project and covered a range of issues including traffic changes, vibration monitoring and building condition assessments.
- Major sewer and water infrastructure required relocation and this was carried out by Daracon personnel who are accredited by both Sydney and Hunter Water Corporations.
