Overview
Variety - The Children’s Charity is the greatest children’s charity in the world and transforms the lives of sick, disadvantaged and special need children throughout Australia and around the world. Here in the Newcastle Region Variety supports local kids by raising much needed funds through many events. Hundreds of thousands of dollars are raised each year to improve the quality of life for many of our kids in need.
The Newcastle Bash is an adventure exploring the regions of NSW while meeting new friends and enjoying the hospitality of the many small communities. It’s not a race, rally or a contest of any kind, just lots of fun. Bash cars are standard road registered vehicles built prior to June 1972 with no modifications to enhance their performance.
The 2009 Newcastle Variety Bash raised in excess of $400,000. Some of this was given away during the event to individual children, schools and community groups with the remainder helping to fund large scale projects such as neo-natal wards, paediatric clinics and ambulances.
Daracon entered two Bash cars and were the highest fundraising team of the event with $55,700.
